Frequently Asked Questions
What are the ingredients in Jasper Kravitz Cleansing Hand Wash?
In order of volume: Isopropanol (70%), Aloe Vera (15%), Distilled Purified Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Hydrogen Peroxide (sterilizer), Vegan Vitamin E Oil, Organic Botanical Essential Oils
Why is called Hand Wash instead of Hand Sanitizer?
Because it does more than just kill germs. Jasper Kravitz nourishes your skin and leaves your hands feeling soft. A minimum 60% alcohol content is required to kill germs and viruses, and most hand sanitizers simply meet that minimum then make up the difference with water. We start with 70% isopropanol and add 15% aloe vera to our formula, along with vitamin E, vegetable glycerin and organic essential oils. Even the hand sanitizers that have aloe on the label usually list it toward the end, after water and sometimes after everything else. This tells you there is no more than a drop of aloe in their formula.
What about these methanol sanitizers I keep hearing about?
Never use a methanol-based hand sanitizer! If it stinks like eggs or motor oil, it most likely contains methanol. Methanol has been shown to cause all kinds of bad reactions and can even kill you. Needless to say, there is no methanol in our formula. A list of banned methanol-based products can be found here. You can also find an additional educational article here.
Where is Jasper Kravitz made?
We blend, bottle and ship our products from 731 Pershing Rd. in Raleigh, NC. If you choose local pickup on your order, you will receive an email when your order is ready for pickup at our shop. Our ingredients are sourced in the USA.
Is your hand sanitizer a gel or a liquid?
Our sanitizer is a liquid. Our team spent weeks researching and experimenting to decide which formula we should bring to market. We determined that the ingredients used to make a gel product were potential harmful to our customers. Check out this helpful article that shows that commonly used products that create the gel affect can actual cause skin irritation. Learn more here.
Where should I store my Jasper Kravitz hand sanitizer?
Store your hand sanitizer out of reach and sight of children. It should not be stored above 105*F (do not leave it in your car during hot summer months).
How do I properly use my Jasper Kravitz hand sanitizer?
Dispense a dime to quarter sized amount into your palm to cover all surfaces of your hands. If using the spray, coat all surfaces of your hands and between your fingers. Next, rub your hands together until they are dry. Be sure that you get the back of your hands and around your fingernails.
When should I apply hand sanitizer?
Basically, after every trip outside of your home or vehicle you should apply hand sanitizer unless you can immediately wash your hands. Whenever you pump gas without a glove and every time you leave a store or use a public restroom you should apply hand sanitizer. After every drive through transaction you should use hand sanitizer. Of course it’s best to wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and warm water, but when you can’t, you should definitely use hand sanitizer.
I ordered a 4-pack. What are those 3 little plastic inserts inside the box for?
We include one locking pump top or one fine mist spray top with each four pack. The other three bottles have metal tops. We do this for several reasons: to keep costs reasonable, to reduce the amount of plastic in our products, and because the spray and pump tops are in very short supply worldwide. You can choose to either move your dispensing cap from one bottle to the next as you use them up, or you can insert the provided plastic reducers into the neck of the other bottles and keep them in different locations (or share them with friends). The reducers work well to keep the liquid from pouring out too fast. It takes a firm press to insert them into the bottle opening, then simply replace the metal cap. Just know that once inserted, it’s pretty hard to get the insert back out!
How long will my bottle of hand wash last?
We put an expiration date of 18 months on each bottle. It takes approximately three years for the alcohol to lose 10% of it’s strength, at which point it will no longer reliably kill germs.
What’s with the raccoon?
Jasper wears a mask. He washes his hands regularly. He’s the only raccoon we know that wears spectacles.
I can get hand sanitizer cheaper. Why should I pay more for yours?
Commercial hand sanitizers have one main ingredient (alcohol), plus lot of water and a bunch of cheap chemicals to make it colorful, thick, and smelly. We blend and bottle in small batches using only 100% natural ingredients that are sourced in the USA. Pure aloe is expensive, and we use a lot of it. We bottle in glass, not plastic, and we pay our people a living wage. But hey, we get it – our product isn’t for everyone, so if you prefer mass produced cheap hand sanitizer that’s cool too. Whichever product you choose, please use it regularly.
How can I get a 4-pack with 4 pump or spray tops?
Just order the bottles individually, specify which top you want for each bottle, and they will arrive in the same 4-pack box as our economy option.
